There’s tons of research on the importance of sleep. It plays a role in our mental and physical health, our creativity, our stress levels, and even our mood! If you’re looking to improve your sleep, you’re in luck: There are plenty of small changes that can lead to better sleep every single night.
Here, Zhana Gentle, a $5K Challenge Winner from Bentonville, AR, shares her top two tips for getting a restful night of sleep.
Meditate before bedtime
“Because I’m a yoga practitioner now, I do a daily meditation when I first wake up and again before I go to sleep. At night, I do a practice called yoga nidra. It puts me in this really relaxed state so that I’m able to sleep better at night.”
Choose an eating cut-off time each night
“I do intermittent fasting, and I stop eating around 7:00 p.m. each night. Then, when I go to sleep around 9 or 9:30 p.m., I sleep a lot better because there’s no food sitting in my stomach. I don’t have discomfort through the night.”
